Abstract: The mechanism of vertical self-priming pump is studied.Equations based on hydrodynamics,thermodynamics,gasdynamics and the law of energy conservation are used to find the time required for self-priming and rate of air pumping.The test data from 65LZ40 vertical self-priming pump are analyzed.The tested results arereasonably in agreement with the formulas derived.
