Abstract: Nine tricarbocyanine dyes containing substituted indole end group were syn-thcsized from trimethylindoline quaternary salt.The structures of the dyes were confirmed byelemental analyses.IR spectra and H-NMR spectroscopy.Their electron absorption spectraand fluorcscence emission spectra were determined.It was found that substituent groupsmade absorption band red shift.
