Abstract:
The thermodynamic theories about surface equation of state of a monolayer with surfactant molecules adsorbed Was thoroughly evaluated. The effects of the interactions between the surfactant molecules adsorbed in the monolayer (electrical repulsion between polar headgroups of the surfactants and hydrophobic attraction between hydrocarbon chains of the surfactants) and existance of inorganic salts in the base solution immediately below the surface (interface) to the state of the adsorbed surfactant monolayer were analyzed as well. Thereupon, a gerenal surface equation of state for surfactant adsorption at the surface (interface) was develoved, which is the same exactly as that published in the literature.
