Abstract:
Abstract: Aromatic components were extracted with N methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) from furfural extraction oil, and crumb rubber (CR) was pre degraded in NMP extraction oil (FEONMP). Comparative studies were performed after pre degraded products were used as modifier which mixed with CR and asphalt blends. The effect of different processes on the performance of modified asphalt was investigated. Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) and fluorescence microscope were used to elucidate the related mechanism for the modification. The result shows that low temperature performance and heat storage stability of modified asphalt obtained by pre degraded process are superior to that of modified asphalt obtained by traditional wet process. In addition, fluorescence microscope graphs demonstrate that pre degraded process can make CR to form continuous and interlocked network in the asphalt.
