Abstract: It is a difficult problem in engineering practice to ensure the sealing performance for a tubing conical threaded connection in tightening. The tubing and casing conical threaded connection with a sealing shoulder face is taken as research object. A calculation model for the contact pressure on the sealing face of tubing and casing threaded connections in tightening is developed in elastic range by analyzing the loads and deformations of the mating pin and box threads and deformation compatibility equation and displacement equation are established. An API conical threaded connection is taken as the sample and the influences of tightening cycle and initial sealing clearance on the contact pressure on the sealing face and the seal properties are calculated and modeled by the method of micro contact analysis on sealing rough surface. Some concrete variation curves are obtained and analyzed. The results of this paper contributes to determine the reasonable tightening cycles for a tubing threaded connection in practice application and provide a theoretical basis for better sealing performance.
