Abstract
It is almost impossible to manufacture carbonates and bicarbonates under normal con-ditions by the reaction between chloride solutions and carbon dioxide. If an organicsolvent (S) is added and mixed with the system, the HCl produced will be extracted by (S),and the reaction will proceed further on. The thermodynamic properties of the systembefore and after the addition of the organic solvent N_(235) were studied. The effects oftemperature, reaction time and number of times of gas passing on the thermodynamicproperties of the system were examined. According to the principle of "the coupling re-action", the rule of solvent selection was proposed based on thermodynamic analysis.Experimental results showed that the process of manufacturing carbonates using solventextraction in the system of chloride solutions and carbon dioxide is applicable.
