    A Novel Mixer-Settler Extraction Column and Study on Its Mass Transfer Characteristics

    • The advantages and disadvantages of the conventional mixer-settler and tower type extraction equipment were discussed.A novel mixer-settler extraction column was designed.An appropriate working system(kerosene-benzoic acid-H_2O or cyclohexane-acetone-H_2O) was used to test the mass transfer characteristics.In addition,many factors such as blade shape,stirring speed,flow rate and number of stages,et al,on the extraction were also studied.The experimental results show that the mass transfer(efficiency) is higher than 96% in a single stage and the extraction efficiency is about 95% in four stages at the stirring rate of 403 r/min.
