Research on Emulsifying Effect of Asphalt Emulsifying Agents

The sulfonated xylogen, a asphalt emulsifing agent, was prepared by reacting xylogen obtained from the waste water of paper making with sodium sulfite. The sulfonated xylogen was characterised by means of infrared spectrum and elementary aralysis. Art imidazolic derivative was prepared from diethylenetriammine through condensation and cyclization reaction with oleic acid. The results of emulsifying tests in which sulfonated xylogen and imidazolic derivative were used showed that Shengli 100 road asphalt can be emulsified by the two emulsifying agents. The results of mix-stability tests showed that the sulfonated xylogen is a kind of slow-breaking emulsifying agent and the imidazolic derivative is a kind of fastbreaking emulsifying agent.
