Three component condensation of cinnamaldehyde, sodium cyanide, and morpholine in the presence of p toluenesulfonic acid, results in an expeditious synthesis of 1 phenyl 4 (4 morpholinyl) 2 butanenenitrile, which may be used in a variety of organic synthesis.
