Abstract
Grafting styrene to cellulose in methanol was studied with UV. Grafting efficiency was determined as a function of irradiation period, different polyfunctional monomers, various alcohols, post-irradiation and ferrous sulphate. It was found that polyfunctional monomers (trimethylol propane triacrylate, polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate, triethylene glycol dimethacrylate, polyethylene glycol diacryhte, tripropene glycol diacryhte) are novel additives for enhancing the grafting yield of styrene in methanol to cellulose.
