Abstract
Five meso-chloro thiatricarbocyanine dyes with a cyclohexenyI bridged chain were synthesized by condensation of the corresponding 2-methyl thiazole quaternary salts with 2-chloro-1-formyl-3-hydroxymethylene-cyclohexene.Configurations of these compounds were identified by IR and 1H-NMR.Their electron absorption spectra, solubility and stability were determined. It was found that the solubility of dye is improved by intrcducing methoxy group to the phenyl ring, and the dye with chloro group on the phenyl ring shows higher photostability.
