Effect of Triphenyl Phosphate on Degree of Substitution of Cellulose Triacetate in Hydrolyzation

    • The factors, including triphenyl phosphate(TPP) content, hydrolization time, the volume of water and catalyzer concentration, affecting degree of substitution(DS) of cellulose triacetate(CTA) in hydrolization are studied. DS of CTA would decrease as TPP content increases during hydrolyzation.High volume of water, prolonged hydrolization time, and higher catalyzer concentration are effective ways in(decreasing) DS,but as catalyzer concentration is up to 15%,byproducts would be generated.
