    Processing and Performance Evaluation of Paving Asphalt from High Asphaltene Tahe Crude Oil

    • The process for producing heavy traffic paving asphalt and polymer modified paving asphalt(PMA) from Tahe crude oil with high asphaltene content was presented,and the paving performance evaluation of these asphalts was also studied.The heavy traffic paving asphalts were(produced) by adding ductility improver and other additives;in addition,the PMAs were produced using stabilizer.The evaluation experiments were conducted by conventional and SHRP methods respectively.Comprising to other paving asphalts,the asphalts derived from Tahe crude oil have higher softening point and penetration index(PI).The evaluation results from SHRP method indicate that the Tahe asphalt is possessed of greater resistance to permanent deformation at high temperature and good low temperature performance despite of its low ductility.The SBS and SBR modified asphalt from Tahe crude oil are also possessed of excellent high and low temperature performance as well as lower temperature susceptibility compared with those from other crude oils.
