Synthesis and Structural Characterization of (2S, 3S )-N-Cbz-3-Amino-1-Chloro-4-Phenyl-2-Butanol

(2S,3S)-N-Cbz-3-amino-1-chloro-4-phenyl-2-butanol is an important intermediate for the synthesis of HIV protease inhibitors.Using natural L-phenylalanine(L-Phe) as starting material, through amino protection,Arndt-Eistert reaction,chlorination and reduction,(2S,3S)-N-Cbz-3-amino-1-chloro-4-phenyl-2-butanol was obtained,and characterized by LC-MS and X-ray diffraction.
