Liquid Crystallinity and Crystallinity of Thermotropic Polymers

The phase state system of polymer liquid crystals was discussed with DLI, WAXD and density analysis. A new point of view about homo- or heterogeneous nature of liquid crystalline polymers was put forward. It was suggested that the liquid crystal phase of polymers is of heterogeneous nature and the liquid crystallinity is higher than the crystallinity. Thus, the unusual behavior of anisotrophy of polymers on heating was explained.
