Flow Behaviors of Falling Film on Vertical Board with a Window

The liquid film is the typical form of gas liquid contact in structured packing, while the opening hole or window on wall is the component of structure in new structured packing. In this paper, the flow visualization and high speed photography were used to determine the transformation condition of the basic flow patterns of falling film on the wall, as well as the effect of window geometry on the transformation. The results show that the flow pass through is the main way to finish the surface renewal, and the back flow can help the liquid exchange between the two sizes of the board.
