Synthesis of C-Galactosyl Monoacylglycerol Analogs

Novel and stable natural product analogs of monogalactosyl monoacylglycerol(MGMG), 1-O-acyl-2-hydroxy-3-α-D-galactopyranosyl-propanediols, were efficiently synthesized by new routes and stereoselective allylation of acetyl protected D-galactose donor pentaacetate, followed by oxidation using alkaline KMnO4, selective esterification and deprotection using hydrazine.
