Influence of Iron, Nickel and Manganese Oxides on the Thermal Decomposition Temperature of HTS

    • HTS (w(KNO3)=53%, w(NaNO2)=40% and w(NaNO3)=7%) is heated to decomposition by an integrated thermal analyzer in nitrogen atmosphere with a heating rate of 20℃/min after mixing by mechanical agitation. The result shows that iron, nickel and manganese oxides have influence on the thermal decomposition of HTS. The thermal decomposition temperature reduces upon increasing the amount of oxides. The sequence of influence degree is as follows, iron oxide>nickel oxide>manganese oxide. The advice on using HTS safely in chemical industry is proposed based on our research results.
