    Numerical Simulation for Performance of Coaxial Stirred Tank

    • The coaxial mixer consisting of anchor and turbine blades was introduced. The coaxial stirred reactor was simulated numerically by use of a computational fluid dynamics software. This simulation was taken with the medium of Newtonian fluid and nonNewtonian fluid under three different working modes. The three modes were only Rushton rotating, co-rotating and counter-rotating. Through the simulation, the power consumption, velocity profiles, pressure profiles and shear strain rate profiles were investigated in detail, and the results showed that the co-rotation of inner and outer impellers was the optimal operation mode in coaxial stirred tank.
