Analysis of Spiral Wheel for Climbing Stairs

This paper describes principles of a wheel with spiral shape, its design formula and motion on stairs. There are two types of wheels, spiral and circular, in a stair climber to drive on the ground or stairs. The spot replaced type of wheels and the adaptability of irregular step of stairs are developed. The method to determine sizes of the spiral wheel and parameters of a vehicle are given for design.
