Abstract
Purification of catalase from hog erythrocyte is described in this paper. SOD and CTS of high purity with specific activity 7580u/mg protein were obtained by removal of hemogiobin with chloroformethanol, chromatographic separation through CM-32 and DEAE-Sepha-dex A-50 column, ammonium sulfate precipitation and ultrafiltration. Molecular weight of approximate 229 646 was identified. The physicochemical characteristics of CTS such as absorption spectrum, amino acid composition, optimal pH, K_m, K_(cat), effect of metal ions, etc. were studies.
