Simulation of Separation Process with Reaction I. Reactive Distillation

The equations describing steady reactive distillation have been transformed into a new set of equations. The new model is the same as that of traditional distillation process in expression style, and it is solved by an algorithm which combines the relaxation method with the modified Newton Raphson method. The reactive distillation processes of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) synthesis with and without inert components are simulated as numerical example.
