A New Motion Estimation Algorithm

Motion estimation algorithm is a key part of video compression algorithm.The paper proposes CCGDS(cross cross gradient decent search)algorithm based on prediction of searching starting-point and gradient descent searching.Matching search patterns are designed in the algorithm based on the center-biased characteristics of motion vector distribution.Experiments show that the algorithm can obtain(almost) the same PSNR as full search at a low computation cost.It outperforms three-step search algorithm,four-step search algorithm and diamond search algorithm on searching speed and effect.
