Abstract
A new approach based upon discrete pulse orthogonal functions (DPOFs) to design predictive controller for bilinear system was developed. In the new design procedure, it is not necessary to calculate the nonlinear optimization problem because all calculations could be summed up as algebraic relations. The final control action becomes the solution of a least-square problem which contains the adjustable parameters, therefore the tuning is also much simpler. Two examples illustrate that the method is effective.
