Reaction Kinetics of Synthesis of Styryl Thiazole Cyanine Dyes

The reactions of thiazole ethiodide with aromatic aldehydes in the presence of pipcridine as catalyst were investigated. It is found that the reaction is of second order. The mechanism was proposed. The rate constants, activation energies of the reactions and the thermodynamic parameters of activation were also calculated and discussed.
