Abstract
Employing thermoplastic poly(oxy-1, 4-phenylene sulfonyl-1, 4-phenylene)(polyethersulfone or PES in brief) resin as binder, friction materials for high temperature services were fabricated. The technology of compression moulding was explored. Tests confirm that the heat-resisting and tribological properties of the PES resin and the friction materials there of are to a great extent better than those of the modified phenolic resin and the friction materials there of. With the aid of modern surface analytical tools, the surfaces before and after rubbing as well as the wear debris were investigated and the wear mechanism was discussed accordingly.
