Micellar Properties of Cationic and Anionic Surfactant Mixtures

The critical micelle concentrations of sodium dodecyl sulfonate (C 12 SO 4Na) dodecyl trimethyl amine bromine (C 12 TAB) mixed system and C 12 SO 4Na octyl trimethyl amine bromine (C 8TAB) mixed system with 0.1mol/kg NaBr have been predicted by using the molecular thermodynamic model for surfactant systems proposed by Blankschtein et al. Compared with the experimental data, the predicted results are satisfactory. The mixed micellization free energies of C 12 SO 4Na C 12 TAB mixed systems have been calculated,and some experimental phenomena have been discussed by using the calculated results.
