    Measurement, Correlation and Prediction on the Surface Tension of Polymer Solutions

    • The relationship between the surface tension and the concentration of polymer solution was measured by the ring method,including the toluene-PDMS solution,cyclohexane-PDMS solution,(butanone-)PDMS solution and two mixed solvents-PDMS solution.This work obtained a new model to(calculate) the surface tension of polymer solutions based on the original Prigogine-Defay model as well as the(introduction) of the concept of the effective concentration of the polymer segments.After the modified P-D model was used to correlate the surface tension data,the average relative error is 0.59%.Also the modified P-D model can be used to predict the surface tension of the mixed solvent-PDMS solution,with the (average) error being about 0.44%.
