For the side chain chlorination of p fluorotoluene under the catalysis of PCl 3, the products distribution of the consecutive reaction within the given limit of chlorination level is in agreement with that predicted the first order reaction kinetics and depends on the light source and temperature. The experimental results show, the yield of p fluorobenzalchloride being 68%~75%.
