Deep Desulfurization of Fluid Catalytic Cracking Gasoline by Liquid-Liquid Extraction and Photo-Oxidation

    • By using liquid-liquid extraction and photochemical desulfurization process, the technology for photochemical degradation of sulfur compounds and kinetics of reaction was investigated. Meanwhile the composition change for gasoline hydrocarbons was inspected. The experiment results show that total sulfur of two types of gasoline decrease by 70% and 80%, respectively, while the average yield of gasoline reaches above 98% under the optimal conditions with H_2O_2 solutions of phosphotungstic acid. The photochemical catalysis data in the peracid (HCOOH) system suggests that the reaction sulfur compounds are converted to their corresponding aqueous-soluble sulfoxide and sulfone follows the characteristic pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics.
