    Optimization of Medium Components for Adenosine Production by Bacillus subtilis Using Response Surface Design

    • Response surface design was used to optimize the medium components for adenosine production by Bacillus subtils. Firstly, effects of yeast extract, corn steep liquor, KH_2PO_4, MgSO_4, (NH_4)_2SO_4 on adenosine production were evaluated using a 2-level factorial design. Among the components investigated, yeast extract, KH_2PO_4 and (NH_4)_2SO_4 played important roles in adenosine production, while others had little effect. Then a central composite design was used to optimize the significant factors and the (results) were shown in response surface plots. When the medium comprised (g/L) yeast extract 15, KH_2PO_4 6 and (NH_4)_2SO_4 10, the adenosine yield was 7.42 g/L, which was 28.6% higher than the (control.)
