Rheologic characteristics of foam

Rheologic characteristics of foam were studied in this paper. The expressions of volume flow rate and velocity profile, which take account of the presence of slip at capillary tube wall, have been established by theoretical analysis. The wall slip velocity of foam was measured by using a capilary device. The experimental results showed that the equation of volume flow rate hold good properly. The foam exhibits non-Newtonian fluid behavior which obeys the Hersechel-Buckley constitutive equation.Rheologic characteristic parameters are as follows: flow behavior index n equals to 0.54, the consistency coefficient K 0.824 (Pa.s)and the yield stress 10.5 (Pa). The experimental results may be used as reference for the foam technology process developments and design of equipments.
