Purification of Hydrochloride Lincomycin by Solvent Extraction and Crystallization

To lower the content of component B in the crude lincomycin product, by means of solvent extraction combined with solventout crystallization, the influences of solvent, phase ratio, concentration of raw material, pH and the rate of mixing on the product purity were investigated. n-Butanol and chloroform were found to have better performance than n-pentanol, iso-pentanol, n-octanol and the mixture of chloroform with iso-pentanol or n-octanol. During extraction and reverseextraction the pH were adjusted to 11 and 5, respectively. Increasing the rate of mixing during the crystallization was helpful to increase the product purity. After one stage extraction the purity of component A in the final product was 97.86%.
