Preparation and Adsorption Performance for Acid Fuchsin of Hierarchical Porous Alumina

    • A hierarchical pore alumina was prepared using Liriope leaf as template. The obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and N2 adsorption/desorption methods. The effect of adsorption time, reaction temperature and the dosage of alumina on the adsorbance and removal rate of as-prepared alumina to acid fuchsin were investigated. Furthermore, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetics equation, Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models and particles diffusion equation were adopted to analyze the adsorption process. The hierarchical pore alumina derived from the leaf microstructure showed high acid fuchsin adsorption capacity. Moreover, the adsorption process well coincided with pseudo-second-order kinetic equation and Langmuir isotherm model, indicating the adsorption of acid fuchsin on the alumina was a monolayer chemical adsorption process.
