Study on the Engineering Characteristic of the Mycelium Pellet in the Penicillin Fermentation

The experimental results showed that the critical dissolve oxygen of the my celium rises from 25% to 40% because of the existence of oxygen concentration gradient in the pellet, and the mycelium needs more oxygen supplied by the bioreactor. Oxygen in short supply makes metabolism of carbon and nitrogen weak, which is unfavourable to synthesis of penicillin. The interaction of metabolism and engineering factors puts a valuable question for study.
