Abstract
The electroluminescence (EL) properties of white organic light-emitting diode (OLED) incorporating Au NPs, Ag NPs and their mixed nanoparticles(NPs) under the PEDOT:PSS hole injection layer (HIL) was studied, and a surface plasmon-enhanced EL efficiency was demonstrated. The EL properties of the OLED samples with either Ag NPs or Au NPs were better than those without metallic nanoparticles (MNPs). The OLEDs with mixed NPs with a volume ratio of 3∶1 (Au NPs to Ag NPs) showed the best EL properties with an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 15.19% and a power efficiency (PE) of 15.03 lm/W, which, compared to those without MNPs, were improved by 29.06% and 23.00%, respectively. The impacts of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of the MNPs on their EL properties were discussed. The internal mechanism of LSPR and the effect of Au NPs and Ag NPs addition ratio on EL performance were revealed by exciton dynamics study.
