Scrubbing Performance of Fine Particulates in Fixed Valve Scrubbing Tower

    • Using hydrophilic and hydrophobic glass beads, air and water as experimental medium, effects of particle size, inlet particle loading, two phase flow parameter and particle wettability on scrubbing efficiency for particles smaller than 10 μm were investigated based on the method of single factor investigation in fixed valve scrubbing tower. The experimental results indicate that for particles larger than 2 μm,the scrubbing efficiency can achieve above 90%.For particles larger than 0.5 μm,the scrubbing efficiency increases upon increasing particle size; For particles smaller than 0.1 μm,the scrubbing efficiency decreases upon increasing particle size; For particles between 0.1 μm and 0.5 μm,the scrubbing efficiency increases initially and decreases later upon increasing particle size; For particles smaller than 2 μm,the scrubbing efficiency enhances at first and then decreases with increasing inlet particle loading and two phase flow parameter. The wettability of particles has a considerable effect on the scrubbing efficiency of particles smaller than 2 μm,especially between 0.1 μm and 0.5 μm.The better the wettability is,the higher the efficiency is.However, the wettability has little effect on the scrubbing efficiency of particles larger than 2 μm.
