    Calculation Method of Wheel/Rail Contact Stress When Passing through Curved Track

    • In this paper,the wheel/rail contact problem when worn tread wheel of passenger trains running on curved track is studied.On the basis of the authors' previous studies,a mathematical model which can accurately calculate wheel/rail contact surfaces stress and inner stress is established by introducing the tangential force calculation model.In addition,an example is carried out to calculate the contact surface stress distribution and the Mises stress and the maximum shear stress at different contact positions.Furthermore,the effects of curve radius,train speed,superelevation and axle load on contact surfaces stress and inner stress are calculated and analyzed numerically.It is shown that the contact spot shape,contact surface stress distribution,the stick slip area distribution as well as the Mises stress and the maximum shear stress are changing constantly with the change of contact position.A series of regular curves are obtained and discussed.The research in this paper can provide reliable foundation for the research of wheel/rail fatigue in the future.
