    Flame Retarded Poly(lactic acid) Using Modified APP/Modified Starch

    • Using modified APP as acid source,modified starch as carbon source,and ADR as compatibilizer,flame retared poly(lactic acid) composites were prepared by melt blending and then hot compression molding.Limiting oxygen index (LOI) was used to characterize the flame retardant property of the composites.Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was employed to determine the thermal stability of the composites.Differential secanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to characterize thermal properties of the composites.The structures and morphology of composites before and after starch etching were observed by scanning electron microscope (SME).The toughness and strength of composites were characterized by mechanical property tests.Compared with PLA,both the toughness and flammability of modified PLA composites were improved.Upon addition of MAPP and ADR,the thermal stability and the compatibility of composites were improved respectively.
