Abstract:
Modified carbon black (MCB) was obtained by the oxidization and hydroxymethylation reaction. The styrene-butadiene-styrene copolymer(SBS) composites were prepared by solvent casting, and the UV absorption behavior of SBS composites with MCB and organic UV absorber A (UA) was studied. Synergism between MCB and UA in the composites was explored. UV-absorption range of the composites shifted toward red light direction after UA and MCB were both added. This is attributed to the formation of hydrogen bond between UA and MCB, which was confirmed by FTIR and DSC. Finally, the optimized composition of the composite with perfect UV-absorption was determined, about 30 nm red shift occurred when 0.2% MCB and 2% UA were doped in the SBS composites.
