Abstract:
In this paper, 4-alkyl phenols(1)are synthesized from anisole, as compared with phenol used as starting material, the yield has increased by 15%. (1) are hydrogenized with Raney Ni catalyst give 4-alkyl cyclohexanols(2), the major product is transisomer through gas chromatography analysis. 4-chloro alkyl cyclohexanes (3) are synthesized from (2) with phase transfer catalyst and 4-alkyl cyclohexane carboxylic acids (4) are synthesized from Gringnard reagents of (3). The four ester series liquid crystals are synthesized from (2) and (4).
