    Numerical Simulation of Residence Time Distribution in Single Screw Extruders

    • 摘要: 将单螺杆挤出机简化为三维方腔,利用粒子轨迹跟踪技术和有限元法研究了螺杆转速和物料弹性对挤出机内停留时间分布的影响;同时,利用“完整模型”拟合了实验数据,分别定量表征了流道中活塞流、全混流和死区所占的体积分数。结果表明,聚合物在螺槽中的运动以活塞流为主,并存在全混流和死区,全混流与死区之间存在混合;物料的流变性质和操作条件的改变对其流动形式有影响。

       

      Abstract: The singlescrew extruders is simplified as a 3D rectangle cavity. In order to investigate the effect of the screw speed and material elastic property on residence time distribution, the flow field is simulated by means of finite element method (FEM) and particle tracing technology. Meanwhile, the “complete model” is employed to fit the experimental data, and the volume fraction of plug flow, mixing flow and dead region are quantitatively characterized. The results show that the flow pattern in the screw channel is dominated by plug flow while includes CSTR, dead region and their mixture. The flow pattern is affected by the rheological behavior of the materials and operating conditions.
