Abstract:
This paper studied the preparation of ultrafine silver powders by reduction of silver nitrate with glucose in aqueous solution under the basicity condition, and poly(N-vinly-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) as the dispersive polymer. Reduced in basicity glucose solution through the Ag2O intermediate product, silver nitrate changed into silver particles, this process was completed rapidly. The Ag2O intermediate products was identified by TGA,and the final product-silver powders were characterized by XRD.The range of particle size of ultrafine silver particles prepared by this method was from 100 to 250nm(average size of aggregates). The temperature, the concentration of reactants and the pH of the reaction system were the main factors effecting the particle size.
