Abstract:
The paper transformed diosgenin to a series of new analogues using Streptomyces virginiae IBL-14. The effects of diosgenin and its analogues on Hela cells, Bcap37 cells, KB-3-1 cells and SW1990 cells were tested by MTT method.The morphological changes of the Bcap37 cells treated with diosgenin and its analogues were observed micoroscopically by Hoechst 33258 staining. The apoptosis of the Bcap37 cells were evaluated by flow cytometry analysis. Diosgenin and its three analogues have inhibiting effects on the growth of the four tumor cells. The inhibiting effects on Bcap37 cells were better than the other three cell lines under the effects of diosgenin and its three analogues. Bcap37 cells showed typical characteristic of apoptosis, including the formation of apoptotic bodies. Diosgenin and its three analogues have evident inhibiting effects on the growth of Bcap37 cells and can induce apoptosis in Bcap37 cells in vitro.
