    Novel License Plate Character Recognition Algorithm Based on Multi-classifier

    • 摘要: 通过对牌照特征及已有识别算法进行分析,提出了基于多分类器模板匹配与支持向量机相结合的牌照字符识别算法。首先利用模板匹配进行粗分类,将多类问题转化成两类问题,再利用支持向量机进行精确分类。在模板匹配环节,使用灰度分布标准化,增加字符与模板的相似度。在Virtual Studio环境下进行测试,结果表明:与单一分类器相比较,该方法的识别精度与识别速度都有了很大的提高。

       

      Abstract: By analyzing the license characteristic and the existing recognition technologies,this paper presents a novel character recognition algorithm based on multi-classifier,an integration of template matching and support vector machine (SVM). In the proposed method, the original problem is firstly question firstly coarsely classified into a two-classes problem by using template matching, and then are accurately classified by means of SVM. In the procedure of template matching, the idea of intensity normalization is proposed in this paper. On the Virtual Studio platform,the testing results show that the proposed algorithm achieves better adaptability and higher recognition accuracy.
