Abstract:
PbI2 can be vitrified without introducing any additives.Glasses obtained from ternary PbI2-PbBr2-KCl system showed good Glass-forming ability and excellent chemical durability as well as distinguished IR transmitting property,Glass- ceramics of which the IR transmitting property is consistent with that of original glasses could be prepared by adopting suitable heat treatment.Being crystallized under such heat treatment conditions,the spontaneous devitrification of the glasses could be overcome and their microhardness could also be greatly improved.It is hopeful that the multicomponent glasses based on the ternary system can be developed as a kind of practicable materials for IR transmission.
