Abstract: A series of perfluorobutyl substituted alcohols and ketones were prepared by nucleophilic addition of carbonyl compounds by C_4F_9I with C_4H_9 Li or with Mg under ultrasonic irradiation.The perfluorobutylated olefins were produced via dehydration of the perfluorobutylated tertiary alcohols and by flash pyrolysis of the acetates of the corresponding perfluorobutyled secondary or tertiary alcohols.
