Abstract:
MPC/MMA copolymers were prepared by using 2methacryloxyethyl phosphorylcholine(MPC) and methyl methacrylate(MMA) as starting materials, azodiisobutyronitrile(AIBN) as initiator, and ethanol as solvent. Their films were obtained by solvent evaporation method. The hemocompatibility of the copolymers was studied by adsorption of bovine serum albumin(BSA) and platelet adhesion. It was shown that the MPCcontained copolymers dispalyed good hemocopatibility and the amount of adsorbed BAS and the platelet decreased with increasing the content of MPC in copolymers. The water binding in MPC/MMA copolymers was free water as determined by DSC. And the high level free water fraction is the reason of good hemocompatibility of MPC/MMA copolymers.
