Abstract:
Tributyl citrate (TBC) terminated poly(D,Llactide) (PBLA) was successively synthesized by tributyl citrate initiated ringopening polymerization of D,Llactide, which was used as a biocompatible plasticizer for high molecular polylactide (PLLA). The effects of different contents of PBLA on the performance of the mixture with PLLA were studied in details. DTMA and DSC results show that stiffness, Tg, and the degree of crystallinity decrease with the increasing of PBLA content, while the toughness enhances. The tests of mechanical properties indicate that tensile strength and Young's modulus decrease with the increasing of PBLA content, while the elongation at break increases. In vitro human embryonic kidney (HEK) 293T cell culture results show no cytotoxicity of the matrix, which indicates high potential in biomedical applications.
