Abstract: Based on the computational fluid mechanics software Fluent, simplified full size model of Passive Residual Heat Removal Heat Exchanger (PRHR HX) was simulated with the transient numerical method. Its temperature field and flow characteristics during the heating process were obtained. The distributions of temperature field and flow field in different locations at different time were compared. Moreover, through the employment of boiling model, the two phase flow in In Containment Refueling Water Storage Tank (IRWST) was also simulated numerically. The temperature field, flow field and vapor phase fraction during the two phase flow were finally obtained to provide reference for the effective operation of passive residual heat removal system.
